Mentorship time again at Barkley

It's summer mentorship time again at Barkley.

This year, in addition to being able to rub shoulders with some of the top PR, marketing and advertising professionals in the area, students will get the real-world experience of working on a project for a Kansas City original: The Roasterie coffee company (Danny O’Neill the President/Owner of The Roasterie is a Park University Board of Trustee Member).

Social Networking Conference

EVENT: Social Networking Conference

WHERE: Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri

COST: $12.00 – lunch is included

WHAT TO BRING: Copy of resume to participate in resume swap activity

You and your communication, public relations and marketing students are cordially invited to attend a conference about social networking on Feb. 25. This conference will be held at the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom at Northwest Missouri State University. The cost of the conference is $12.00 and that includes a catered lunch.

Some tentative events happening at the conference:

3 speakers – one from Nicholson-Kovac advertising agency

Resume swap and critique

Panel to ask questions about social networking

A few group activities related to social networking

If your students would like to attend, please have them fill out a registration form (attached). We will collect the registration forms and money from one representative from your school at check-in at the conference. Payment can be in the form of cash or check. Checks can be made out to Northwest Missouri State University.

Money and registration forms will be turned in the day of the conference, but a final headcount and names of attending students is requested by Feb. 18.

Formation Strategies, a Kansas City consulting firm specializing in business development for the health and wellness industries is currently seeking a self-directed, curious and detail-oriented individual to assist with our client’s online communications. Candidate must exhibit a passion for emerging media and technology, as well as demonstrate active participation and content creation across a wide variety of social media activities such as blogging, social networking, micro-sharing, social bookmarking, commenting, podcasting, posting video, etc., and should be well-connected with the broader social media world. Candidate should understand the importance of ongoing monitoring and response speed in social networks. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strategic mind, with a good understanding of the core principles and values behind conversational marketing within social mediums.



CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Copywriting – constant generation of new online material.

• Facilitation of FS client’s participation within social mediums.

• Ongoing management and maintenance of selected FS client web properties, blog and email communications.

• Maintain, evolve and enforce FS client social media policies and guidelines.

• Educate and empower FS staff members on effective participation within social media channels.

Candidate should provide portfolio of written work and demonstrate knowledge of online communities. Desktop publishing and web software such as Dreamweaver are required.

Office hours are flexible based upon college course schedule and some work may be done remotely. Social Media Intern will be immediately supervised by Director of Sales and Marketing. Position is ongoing and will be paid hourly.
